Always Use Sunscreen

As I have just returned from a lovely trip to Marrakesh I thought I would talk about sun care. As a pale red head I always wear sun cream even in the winter. I wear a lightweight factor fifty or thirty. It doesn’t have to be sunny to cause harm to the skin. Prolonged time in the sun without protection is the number one cause of ageing and can cause skin cancer. If like me you are pale and interesting I would advise minimal time in the sun make the shade your friend. Just think how young you will look!

I just want to set the record straight about high factors in sun care. A high factor does not prevent you from getting a tan what is does mean is that you can stay in the sun thirty, or fifty times longer. Even if I had skin that tanned well I would still be wearing a high factor such as thirty or fifty. Lets face it who wants to age prematurely.

When choosing a sun cream first of all I go by factor the higher the better then I go for formula. A  lightweight cream is best as it won’t overload the skin and you can put make-up over it if required. When I’m choosing suncreams for work I have to make sure they don’t contain zinc as this can cause flash back. Not the best look for fashion or beauty.

Once you have selected your suncream make sure you apply it regularly if you are on holiday. Even if it says its waterproof I would still be cautious and top up. (In the winter in the UK a morning application to the face is fine.) If you do feel yourself burning get out of the sun or cover up. Its not worth the pain or damage and the skin will more than likely peel rather than go brown!

Six of the best.

1.Bioderma spf 50 high protection fluid £14 Lloyds pharmacy great for the face lightweight just sinks in you don’t know it’s there and it doesn’t cause flash back.

2.Bioderma high protection spray spf 50 £7.49 Europara. Suitable for face and body super light weight as above the spray makes it easy to use on holiday. Its also very cheap!

3. Lancaster satin seen oil spf 30 £24 Debenhams. This is an old fav its great on the body on shoots as it gives a gorgeous gleam. its again lightweight and keeps the skin silky smooth.

4. Nivea sun invisible protection SPF 20 £7.40 Boots. A bit of a lower SPF for you. This is really easy to apply it absorbs straight away and its waterproof. with this SPF its great for English summers.

5. Sunleya global anti-age sun care spf 30 £158 http://www.sisley-paris.com. This is my sun tan lotion of choice. It works really well with my skin. I also tend to use this the Bioderma and Lancaster on shoots abroad. The combination of the three work well.

6. Super soin solaire spf30 ‘Youth Protector’ £83 http://www.sisley-paris.com. This is super lovely and so easy to use. I was able to put this on so quickly before the shoot started. It gave me good protection and I felt moisturised.

Hope this helps VB.xx

Get The Look – Eline Sports Luxe Shoot

Body
Rimmel Instant tan in golden- spray tan the whole body, use a powder puff to blend and buffer in. the last thing you want is a streaky body!
Face
Rimmel Instant tan gel matte – this I used on Elines face, to give her a bit of colour before foundation. I applied the gel with a foundation brush and gain made sure it was well blended.
Nails
Gosh Miss Grey nail varnish on fingers and toes – optional.
Mac Face and body in C4 (FB is my favourite foundation it gives the skin a great texture)
Laura Mercier camoflarge concealer in sc3 – mainly just for the under eye, but any redness etc that needs to be covered. Elines skin was pretty perfect! Remember the under eye goes from the inner corner of the eye to the outside of the eye. The inner corner of the eye can have a lot of darkness a bit of concealer here can really light up the eye area.
Eyes
Illamasqua brow cake – Gaze I just filled in the gaps with the powder.
Illamasqua cream eye shadow in nude on the eyelid.
Illamasqua cream eye shadow in Dual into the contour
Mac cream colour base in sepia with a sweep of Mac eyeshadow in gold mine over the top
Maybelline great lash Mascara in black two coats combed through with a fan brush.
Cheeks
Estee Lauder cream blush in tan – blended well just under the cheek bone for maximum lift.
Lips
Mac Lady Danger mixed with Mac impassioned lipstick applied not to perfectly after all the look is sports.
Stripes – Optional
Make Up Forever Greese in black and white applied with a finger.
On the shoot we had Glycerine mixed with water which we sprayed Eline with to create extra shine and sweat!
I didn’t use any powder as I wanted maximum shine, but if you do want do recreate this look I would advise powder on the t zone.
Let me know how you get on…..

Beauty Shoot

Beauty test – Photography James Lightbown, Styling Nini Khatiblou, Make up and Hair Victoria Bond, Model Olga@ Profile.

For this shoot I used creams and illuminators, to create a gorgeous gold dewy look.  For the hair I just curled random sections, added product for extra texture.

We also shot this on the same day, James was inspired by the Wolford tights!
