True Blue – How To Wear It Well

Make a bold summer statement with lovely hues of blues and greens, be bold, be brave…..

1.       Pale skinned girls should keep blue to a minimum. Start with neutral base and lip then apply a gold eye shadow to the lid; fill the upper and lower waterline with a black kohl pencil, then apply a dark metallic blue or deep dark aqua marine underneath the lash line. For a more dramatic evening look, don’t be afraid to too bring the blue deep underneath the lash line.
2.  Aqua marine is a great colour to enhance a tan, so this is a great holiday look. Apply a basic brown matte eye shadow to the socket line; then follow with a strong metallic aqua marine on the lid, really layer the colour up. For extra intensity fill the water line with a metallic brown eye liner, Mac Teddy is perfect. Then use a metallic brown under the lash line and blend well. Follow with lots of black mascara; a bit of bronzer on the cheek’s, nose and fore head. Finish with a slick of clear lipstick.

3.  Bold block colours look great on dark skinned girls; Mac liquidlast liner in blue horizon is perfect for creating a Dolce Vita flick. Make sure you take the colour right down to the top lash line and look down to create a good shape. This can take a bit of practice…. Finish with a strip lash, lots of mascara and a chocolate lip gloss.

4.  For a bold evening look; that isn’t too over the top, try Estee Lauders new pure collection by Tom Pecheux. Apply the navy eye shadow to the entire lid, into the socket and the lower lash line. Then use the black eye shadow at the corner of the eye and then along the top line. Fill in the waterline with a navy pencil and finish with lots of black mascara. This is a great alternative to the Smokey eye and is straight of the catwalks.

5.       For those of you who are scared of colour, keep it really simple. Line your waterline with Mac minted eye liner. Then add some cream blush to the apples of the cheek, Bobbi Brown pot rouge in tan is perfect. Finish with a slick of sheer fuchsia lip gloss.

Stun in the Sun

I thought I would do a simple summer look that’s pretty, quick and easy…

1. Nobody wants a full coverage foundation in the summer its best to keep it light and natural Estee Lauders day wear plus multi protect with a tint release formula is perfect. Not only does this moisturise but it protects the skin as it has a SPF 15 and it will change and blend in colour if you get a tan, a great summer staple.

2. If you need a to conceal keep it light and light reflective pop a bit of Touche Eclat on the under eye and around the nose and chin if needed.

3. Give yourself a glow with Bobbi Brown Pot Rouge for lips and cheeks go for blushed rose which is a gorgeous browny pinky colour perfect for summer. Keep it simple and use your fingers applying it to the apples of your cheeks, smile and apply!

4. Add a bit of colour with Mac’s Minted eye Kohl apply this to the bottom water line to make your eyes pop, this colour looks great with a tan and it’s low maintenance  in the summer sun.

5. Curl your lashes to really open out your eyes and finish with a coat of waterproof mascara Max Factor lash lift will last all day and give you great volume in just one coat.

6. Finish with Rimmel’s royal gloss in yummy a lovely sheer lippy that’s easy to apply.

A look that should be accompanied by a nice glass of Rose!

Ashes to Ashes

I was  really disappointed that Ashes to ashes ended on Friday I love it, eighties clothes, make up a fab sound track and of course the well known phrase that was cleverly turned round by the Tories ‘Lets fire up the quattro’ I think they must have paid a lot for that car as it featured in nearly every episode I was devastated to see it destroyed! My only criticism is I didn’t quite get it….  the ending it was bizarre!

I loved Alex played by Keeley Hawes so in honour of this great character I have created a modern 80’s look…

How to get the look.

My model had great skin so I opted to use a sheer foundation Mac Face and body did the job perfectly any problem areas such as the under eye, around the nose and chin I used Bobbi Browns creamy concealer, making sure it was well blended.

I added a bit of the concealer to the eye lid then blended then set with a Mac Translucent powder my reason for this is I know I will be working with powdered eyeshadow and it needs a good base to work well on.

The Eyes- First of all I lined the waterline of the eye top and bottom with a Black Kohl pencil buy Bourjois make sure you get right into the tear duct to make the eye liner look finished. To create the super blended eye lid you will need a good blending brush a Mac 224 is perfect and several different coloured eye shadows I used from Mac Arena, Gold mine and Tempting and Mahogany from Bobbi Brown. Experiment with creating this look try to keep the darker colours  in the socket line for a more dramatic look.

I finished the eye by curling the lashes and adding a coat of Max Factor lash extension effect mascara,  inserting individual eyelashes and finishing with another coat of mascara to blend and finish.

Cheeks are quite minimal just a bit of Mac powder blush in Prism under the cheek bone for definition.

The lip is strong so a good lip brush is essential to get a good straight line I always use a Shu Uemura lip brush as its easy to use and gives a lovely shape to the lips. The lip colour I have used is Morange by Mac.

To finish I added a bit of Mac mineralize powder to the under eye as I find this to be a great finishing powder. To set the rest of the make up I swept a translucent powder all over the face.

Monaco Grand Prix

It is that time of year when the Monaco grand prix kicks off bringing with it a circus of glitz, glamour and the biggest yachts ever this is a place where length and frontage really count.

Now I am not a fan of formula 1 I don’t get it to me it seems rather pointless almost like a dog chasing its tail accept its dangerous and expensive… I have had first hand experience of the Monaco grand prix and all I can say about the whole weekend was its noisy and stressful…

I was working of course as Monaco is really not my scene I’m not rich and I like to think I’m not tacky!! I think at one point Monaco was beautiful as old buildings can still be scene through the modern mirage that has been built up around the old soul of the town, its a shame really but progress is progress.

At the time I was working for Debeers, Diamond trading company and Steinmetz who wanted to use the glamorous backdrop to promote their diamonds. I have to say they had some amazing pieces needless to say security was high as one earring could be worth in excess of 100k! Steinmetz at the time owned a very large pink diamond and it was sensational very large and very beautiful apparently it can take years to cut a stone that large! I couldn’t resist touching it as I thought this is probably as close as I will ever come to a rock this size!!

Helena Christensen wore the pink and she looked amazing I bet she was nervous as that it one piece of jewellery not to be lost.

The Monaco look – A tan is essential but fake it the last thing a Monaco dolly wants is to age I suggest a St Tropez spray tan extra dark think George Hamilton. Remember more is more here and low maintenance girls need not apply full coverage is a must to be as flawless as a Debeers diamond I suggest applying Vita Luminere by Chanel with a brush then correct any problem areas like the under eye around the nose and chin with Laura Mercier camouflage concealer. Set this with a translucent powder Chanel Crystaline is perfect.

Eyes keep them sparkly and long wearing after all this is a party place use Bobbi Brown longwear cream shadow in Bellini all over the eye and right up to the brow bone follow with Burnished on the lid and into the socket line. Groom the eyebrows and fill in any gaps with an angled brush and powder suitable to your eyebrow colour, remember its usually two shades lighter than you think!! Curl the lashes, if you have straight lashes apply the mascara first then curl if not curl then apply two coats of Maybelline extreme lash mascara in black and opt for the waterproof!

Cheeks pop a bit of Penny Lane by Nars on the apples of the cheeks for a sexy glow… Lips I think should make a statement go for a bright fuchsia Rimmel do a lovely long lasting lipstick in their colour show off range go for shocking pink and make a statement. Just remember to carry the lippy and a compact with you for touch ups and watch the invites to the best parties just roll in!!
